Job Suffers, Wife Laments

This painting portrays the anguished moment from the book of Job 2:9-10, when Job’s wife, overwhelmed by their suffering, urges him: “Are you still holding firmly to your integrity? Curse God and die!” Job, though stricken with painful boils and devastated by loss, refuses to abandon his faith. Instead, he gently corrects her, saying: “Should we accept only good from God and not also adversity?” In all this, Job did not sin with his lips.
