Ten years old, Lily was not one to sit quietly or blend into the background. She was sharp and restless, always questioning, always pushing the limits of the strange new world she’d been thrust into. Now, as she sat in a warm comfortable cave, she poured cinnamon tea into mismatched cups, her hands steady despite the absurdity of her company. The cave walls were lined with mobile phones, each screen frozen on the image of an atomic explosion. The world outside had ended, but here in the cave, Lily somehow found a surreal refuge, sipping tea with her peculiar companions.
